Welcome to Inside KisanHub, a selection of interviews with the talented people behind the KisanHub tech. This month we caught up with Vrushali Adsul, a Continuous Improvement Manager in our Product team.
Hello! To kick things off please can you each tell us a little bit about yourself and explain your role at KisanHub?
In March 2017 I joined KisanHub because I have an understanding of the industry coming from a farming family, I have seen the practical challenges of the farming sector first hand and know the pain points, plus many ideas of how we can improve them! My current role at KisanHub is Continuous Improvement Manager and I am responsible for our customer Sahyadri Farms and AB InBev.
My Father is a farmer, I enjoyed growing up on our farm and was always keen to work for this sector because there are so many challenges and opportunities. We grow wheat, papayas, spinach (pictured right), aubergines and onions.
What are you working on right now and what will this mean for the industry?
Currently, my role is to identify, monitor and implement continuous improvement practices to make our product robust. I conduct thorough research on User Experience (UX) and investigate the area of waste, duplication and multiple errors. I am also working on process mapping and requirements for reporting which is vital for our customers. I provide analytical support for our customers so they can get the most from using KisanHub. I recently became Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified, a course provided by KPMG, I am applying the six sigma principles in my current role, which is really exciting and extremely rewarding, especially when you can see how much our customers get in return from a system like KisanHub, for example improvements in their product's quality.
What three words would you use to describe KisanHub?
Innovative, passionate, revolutionary
You studied Business Management, how does this help your projects?
I studied Agriculture and then Business Management followed shortly by my first role in a traditional Business setting, but I found it very ‘same’. This gave me a good understanding of factors that impact businesses differently. I’m glad I am now back in Agriculture because having this background means I understand our customers and how we can take them to the next level. It is great to see how we can solve their problems using tech and continuously enhance the quality of their products.
What do you most enjoy about being part of the KisanHub team?
The autonomy for your work and respect for the work you do. Plus the support from my manager and our team is invaluable, we have such a strong team culture, it’s great! Also, I like that there is plenty of opportunities for learning and furthering professional development.
Do you have a work mantra that you go by?
Not a mantra, but a winning combination in my eyes is passion, quality and strong work ethics, we go above and beyond.
Finally, as a tech startup working in the agri-food industry, do you have a favourite vegetable/fruit? Why and where is it grown?
I like everything! If I was to pick a favourite it would be the magical mango, especially the ‘King of mangoes’ the variety Alphonso (pictured), the quality of the ones grown by the coast of Maharashtra in India are incredible!
